Hosted Exchange Setup

Setting Up Hosted Exchange Accounts:

Another mail service we offer at Macrolan is Hosted Exchange. If you have purchased this product and need to set it up, here is a simple howto on setting up hosted exchange accounts.

After the account has been created, you will receive the following template:
“Dear Customer

We have configured your new Exchange mailbox(s) as follows:

Billed to          -  xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Email address      -  xxxxxxxxxxxx
Username           -  xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Password           -  xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Server name        -  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Outlook Web Access -  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Quota setting      -  xxGB

Note: Quota warnings will be sent as follows:
For mailboxes, 3Gig and up - 500MB of free space remaining, 2Gig and under - 200MB of free space remaining.

These warnings can be amended should you need a later or earlier notification.”

Please use the details in the template that you received to setup the account within your email client.

1. Open Internet Explorer (make sure that it is running in administrator mode by right clicking the icon and selecting “Run as administrator” and browse to the address that is in your template under Outlook Web Access –
If you encounter no error and page loads successfully, then proceed to the next heading: “Setting Up Outlook to Use RPC over HTTPS”. However, if you receive an error with the page loading, please continue with steps 2 to 12

2. Click on “Continue to this website (not recommended

3. Click on “Certificate Error”

4. Click on “View certificates”

5. Click on “Install Certificate”

6. Click on “Next”

7. Make sure the “Place all certificates in the following store is selected” and then click on browse.

8. Make sure that “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” is selected and click on OK.

9. Click on “Next”.

10. Click on “Finish”.

11. Click on “Yes” at the Security Warning Windows that appears.

12. You can now access your Webmail without any security warnings as well as setup your Outlook mail.

Setting Up Outlook to Use RPC over HTTPS

1. Click on “Start” and then on “Control Panel”, in Control Panel you need to click on the “Mail” icon.

2. Click on “Show Profiles” and then on add.

3. Type in Your Profile name: (usually your name or could be anything else) and click on OK.    Make sure that the profile you just created is selected under “Always use this profile”.

4. After your profile is created the Add New account window should appear. The account type that you want to add is the “Microsoft Exchange” account. Select this and then click on next.

5. Under “Microsoft exchange server” type “mail.myserver.macrolan.co.za”, under User Name Type the User Name that was supplied to you.

6. Now click on “More Settings”

7. Click on the “Connection” Tab

8. Tick “Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP” and select “Exchange Proxy Settings”As you can see under Connection Settings the first test window has the following text: “mail.myserver.macrolan.co.za”, the next window has the following: “msstd: mail.myserver.macrolan.co.za”. Make sure that both fast and slow networks have been ticked and that Authentications settings is set to Basic. Click on OK after everything has been selected.

9. After clicking on OK twice you should be back at your Exchange Settings screen, check to confirm that your User Name is still there and then click “Check Name” Your name and exchange server should now be underlined as follows: (You will also be prompted for your password, just enter it now)

10. Now click on next and then finish. You can now open up Outlook and use your mail account.
