Promotion of Access to Information Act

The purpose behind the Promotion of Access to Information Act (or PAIA) is to give effect to the constitutional right of access to information that is held by the state and/or a single person or business entity. It is required for the exercise or protection of any right by an individual in South Africa.

What is the Promotion of Access to Information Act

The reason for the existence of the Promotion of Access to Information Act is to give individuals the right to access information and to foster a culture of transparency and accountability within South Africa.
