ADSL Connectivity
MacroLan offers ADSL line rental and connectivity services. The client will need to contract Telkom directly or indirectly via MacroLan to install the ADSL line. Should MacroLan arrange for the installation of such line, MacroLan will follow up with Telkom when faults are experienced on the line and terminal adapter. MacroLan will provide a single invoice incorporating both ADSL line rental and usage for a client on a monthly basis.
MacroLan offers 3 ADSL products namely Capped, Uncapped and Pay as you use. Line rentals include line speeds of 384Kb/s, 512Kb/s and 4096 Kb/s respectively. Clients can purchase a minimum of 1GB of bandwidth per month. Should a client require additional bandwidth, a top up facility is accessible through MacroLan’s website on www.macrolan.co.za. MacroLan shall notify clients when clients reach 75% and again at 90% of purchased bandwidth. Bandwidth can either be solely local or a combination of local and international.
Dynamic DNS is a system which allows the domain name data held in a name server to be updated in real time. The most common use for this is in allowing an Internet domain name to be assigned to a computer with a varying (dynamic) IP address. MacroLan’s ADSL accounts include radius based Dynamic DNS which automatically updates your DNS every time your ADSL IP Address changes.
MacroLan has recently obtained the ability to connect to the Telkom DSLAM which enables status checks on Telkom ADSL lines and the resetting of line connections. This service vastly reduces time spent on fault resolution.
Digital (Leased Lines) Connectivity
MacroLan offers digital line rental and connectivity services providing high speed, full time and uncapped dedicated internet access for a fixed monthly fee. Not only do digital lines offer clients a static IP address, they also offer guaranteed bandwidth, permanent internet availability and better voice capabilities. The minimum speed of a MacroLan digital line is 64Kb/s. Leased lines include network services such as traffic shaping and prioritization. Additional advanced routing and customized firewall services are also available. The client will need to contract Telkom directly or indirectly via MacroLan to install the digital line from the client’s office to MacroLan’s network. Should MacroLan arrange for the installation of such line, MacroLan will follow up with Telkom when faults are experienced on the line and terminal adapter. MacroLan will provide a single invoice incorporating both digital line rental and usage for a client on a monthly basis. If required, MacroLan will provide a monitoring service of digital line availability.
